Zohar Vayeshev
Continued from previous DZ
The Zohar asks why sufferings come to righteous people whose fathers and grandfathers were righteous. If they don’t have a tikkun to carry in the family then why go through such a process of breaking the body?
The Zohar explains that the secret is that souls must come to the world during the cycles of the sun and the moon. The moon begins waxing from the first day and becomes full on the 15th day then the moon is waning until it completes the cycle and a new moon begins again.
Those who were born in the first two parts of the month are influenced by energy of growth, especially after the first Shabbat of the month until the day of full moon.
Souls that were born when the moon goes darker, during the 3rd and 4th quarter, experience more judgments than those who are born during the 1st and 2nd quarter.
This rule affects good and bad people in order to create spiritual balance in the world. Those who have easy life should work harder on their desire for the self alone and share their blessings with those who need it. Those who experience more difficulties should work on strengthening their faith and do more prayers. The Zohar tells us that no matter how many judgments come to a person, he can still cancel them with prayers.
There’s a lot to learn about the deeper meaning of our prayer books and the spiritual process that takes us through the different spiritual worlds to the higher levels where we can pray (in plural form) and draw Light to us and the world.
The Zohar is not a tool to replace the regular prayers but its studies give us short cuts to the higher levels and carry up our meditations.
The moon represents us, living in lack of Light and need to make efforts to connect to the Light to remove darkness from our lives.
A day will come when the moon will constantly be full of light and we will experience no lack.
Once a month we make a special blessings for the moon. Every month after the first Shabbat of the month, usually after the first seven days we make special blessing for the moon. We don’t do it after the 2nd quarter because the moon is waning and loses it’s ability to transfer light.
During the blessings of the moon we recite the verses below from Isaiah 30:26
“Moreover, the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven-fold, as the light of seven days, in the day when YHVH binds up the brokenness of his people, and heals the wounds inflicted by his blow”
When this event happens, the moon will have no ‘dark’ side and we will experience life of no sufferings and complete fulfillment.
