#191
Rabbi Elazar was sitting in front of Rabbi Shimon; he said to him, many times I asked about the Shofar, its purpose. And so far, I have no clarity about it. Rabbi Shimon told him that surely, this would clarify the matter. Because on the Day of Judgment, Israel needs a Shofar and not a horn because a horn implies the level of Malchut, which is the aspect of judgment, and we do not want to provoke judgment. The Shofar implies the level of Binah, which is mercy. We have learned that we reveal and evoke the hidden in speech and deed, and that is done with the blowing of the Shofar and in its blessing.

#192
When the supreme Shofar, Binah, that holds the Light of all levels, and the three lines join together, Binah gives the Mochin to Zeir Anpin of Atzilut and the lower worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiya. If the Light from Mochin of Binah is not delivered to the children Zeir Anpin and Malchut, judgment is awakened, and the throne of justice is set.
The Shofar that is the secret of Binah is called ‘the Ram of Isaac.’ ‘Ram’ ‘איל’ also means ‘strength,’ ‘Might’ as we read in Ezekiel 17:13
“וַיִּקַּח מִזֶּרַע הַמְּלוּכָה וַיִּכְרֹת אִתּוֹ בְּרִית וַיָּבֵא אֹתוֹ בְּאָלָה וְאֶת אֵילֵי הָאָרֶץ לָקָח.”
“And he took the king’s offspring, made a covenant with him, and put him under oath. He also took away the mighty (אֵילֵי) of the land,”
This ‘might’ represents the qualities of the patriarchs that are Chessed, Gevurah, and Tiferet. They receive support from the Shofar, Binah.
When the Light of Binah is absent, the children, Zeir Anpin and Malchut don’t receive Light from Binah, meaning there is no unification between Zeir Anpin and Malchut. Zeir Anpin is nourished from the Right line of Binah, and Malchut receives from the Left of Binah. Since the Left of Binah is without the Right, the Mochin of Binah cannot stay and leave. The Left line, Isaac, gets strength from the Left of Binah, and the world is in judgment. Because when the Left of Binah is without Chassadim, harsh judgments are drawn to the world.
