Zohar Vayikra

#342
In this manner, one who requests a petition from the King must unify the Holy Name with his will, from below to above — from Malchut to Keter — and from above to below — from Keter to Malchut. And he must bind everything in one union, in Ein Sof, blessed be He. With this union, he should include his request.
Rabbi Yosi said: Who is wise to request his petition like King David, who was the guardian of the gate of the King, who was a chariot (merkavah) for the Malchut that is called the gate of the King.
Rabbi Chiya said to him: Certainly it is so. And therefore, the Torah teaches us the ways of the Holy King so that we may know how to follow Him. As it is said: “אַחֲרֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם תֵּלֵכוּ” “After YHVH your God you shall walk” etc. (Deuteronomy 13:5).
#343
Rabbi Yosi opened and said: “כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע נְהִי בְכִי” etc. “Thus says YHVH: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping” etc. (Jeremiah 31:15). “Thus says YHVH” — we have established that in every place where the prophet begins to speak, his words are known through the Name he mentions at the beginning — whether it is a Name indicating judgment (din), or mercy (rachamim), or Zeir Anpin, or Malchut, and the like.
And here, “Thus says YHVH” — this is the Holy One, blessed be He, that is, Zeir Anpin. And what did He say? “A voice is heard in Ramah” — of Malchut, as we explained.
Notes:
The Zohar teaches the proper way to make a request before the King: one must first unify the entire divine Name (YHVH) from Malchut up to Keter and back down, binding everything in perfect union with Ein Sof (Endless). Only within this unification should the request be included. David exemplified this as the guardian of the King’s gate (Malchut).
The Torah guides us in these ways so we may walk after Hashem. Similarly, when a prophet speaks, the opening Name reveals whether the message concerns judgment, mercy, Zeir Anpin, or Malchut. In Jeremiah 31:15, “Thus says YHVH” indicates Zeir Anpin speaking through the voice of Malchut (“Ramah,” alluding to the Shekhinah in lamentation during the exile). This shows that every divine word is rooted in a specific sefira.
