Tikkun 2 – 1 (refers to Tikun 22 and 23)
The Zohar tells us that the first word of the Torah, בְּרֵאשִׁית, “In the Beginning”, can say “ברא תיש”, meaning “created Ram’.
This ram is the one that God made for Abraham to sacrifice instead of his son, Isaac.
Genesis 22:7
“וַיֹּאמֶר יִצְחָק אֶל-אַבְרָהָם אָבִיו, וַיֹּאמֶר אָבִי, וַיֹּאמֶר, הִנֶּנִּי בְנִי; וַיֹּאמֶר, הִנֵּה הָאֵשׁ וְהָעֵצִים, וְאַיֵּה הַשֶּׂה, לְעֹלָה ”
“And Isaac spoke unto Abraham his father, and said: ‘My father.’ And he said: ‘Here am I, my son.’ And he said: ‘Behold the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering? ”
The Zohar reveals to us that when Isaac asked his father the above question, a voice from heavens said “the Ram was created in the beginning of Creation for the binding of Isaac”
“And Abraham said: ‘God will provide Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son.’ So they went both of them together.”
Abraham didn’t lie to Isaac, he had a prophecy. The ram was created for that specific purpose and it is hinted in the first word of the Torah. Abraham had a strong spiritual connection and certainty with the ways of God. Even though he didn’t think about a ram or calculated the option of finding a ram to slaughter instead of Isaac, his soul expressed the future event.
The binding event was a great plan of God to open a channel of mercy for the world and allow Chessed, which is right column, Abraham to sweeten judgments of the Left column, Gevurah, Isaac. The Zohar tells us that the binding of Isaac removed the hold of the angel of death in the left column, Gevurah.
At the beginning of our daily prayers we read the story of the binding in order to remove judgments from our day. On the first day of Rosh Hashanah we read about the birth of Isaac and on the second day we read the chapter of the binding. With these readings we connect spiritually to that event and the Zohar says that it cancels the prosecutor’s case against us.
Genesis 22:12 “ וַיֹּאמֶר, אַל-תִּשְׁלַח יָדְךָ אֶל-הַנַּעַר, וְאַל-תַּעַשׂ לוֹ, מְאוּמָה”
“He said, Do not lay a hand on the boy and Do not do anything to him.;”
Once the binding or right and left took place, there was no need to do anything because the protection of the right overcame death.
Psalms 98:1
“מִזְמוֹר, שִׁירוּ לַיהוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ– כִּי-נִפְלָאוֹת עָשָׂה;
הוֹשִׁיעָה-לּוֹ יְמִינוֹ, וּזְרוֹעַ קָדְשׁוֹ”
“A Psalm. O sing unto YHVH a new song; for He hath done marvellous things; {N}
His right hand, and His holy arm, hath wrought salvation for Him.”
The Zohar explains that this verse reveals the power of the right hand (Chessed) to overcome and remove the judgment of the left (Gevurah).
On Rosh Hashanah listen to the reading and the blowing of the Shofar (that is made from a Ram’s horn) very well. These are the best spiritual tools that help us overcome judgments and have a chance for a better year. DO NOT think about better material living for the sake of having more. Material things exist only in Malchut, they are temporary and have the aspect of death attached to them. You may ask for sustenance for you and your family if you are really poor and the lack of money doesn’t let you connect spiritually and become a better channel for the light.
Ask and meditate to remove all judgments from your Tikkun process so you can be closer to the Light and follow his ways.
Having certainty in the ways of God connects us to Abraham and lets the channel of Chessed flow through us. Only then, we can truly remove judgments from our lives and find joy in every step we make.
It is not easy to follow this advice but this is the way to break the illusion of the material world.
