Pinchas 76-78
Every impurity that was put on the soul because of any transgression needs correction and cleansing.
Rabbi Shimon teaches us that the correction should come on the same level and aspect of the original cause.
If a person was speaking ‘evil’ on other person, then the source of the impurity on his soul comes from his mouth. He needs to use the mouth to make the correction. One can not give money to charity and expect the damage of his evil speech to be erased and his soul to be cleansed. The first step is to admit to the people that he was speaking badly about them and find ways to receive their true forgiveness. If the people are not to be reached, then the corrective actions should be in using the mouth positively to help others, motivate and build them up to do good.
If a person stole money or cheated others using his business then he needs to find ways to return money to the people or to the community and help people in need.
These principals should be used to correct and cleanse any kind of impurity. Rabbi Shimon says that if the Tikkun is not done in the same aspect, then no proper Tikkun was made.
When a person experiences judgments in his life without being aware of a cause in this life time, then it probably comes from a previous life. The type of judgment and hardship could indicate what needs to be corrected. If the cause is still not known or the correction can not be identified, that person should dwell into study of the Zohar and give money to reveal light in the world.
The Light will then shine on his ways and guide him to proper corrections.
