Daily Zohar # 2161 – Shelach Lecha – It’s about ‘nothing’
.

Zohar Shelach Lecha
Rabbi Shimon explains that Moses was giving the leaders of the tribes the opportunity to correct the doubts they expressed after traveling in the desert without water for few days.
Exodus 17:7
“He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is YHVH among us, or nothing?””
They had doubts if God existed on all levels when saying “Is YHVH among us, or nothing?”
Now Moses send them to the land to see “Is there a tree in it or nothing?”
The ‘Tree’ is the Tree of Life with the aspect of Zeir Anpin and the YHVH name. ‘Nothing’ is ‘אין’ (Pronounced ‘Ayin’). It is the aspect of Arich Anpin, which is the head of Keter and it connects everything below to the Endless Light.
Job reveals to us that the Chokmah comes from ‘Ayin’ (Keter).
Job 28:12
“And the Chokmah (Wisdom) from nothing (Ayin) be found”
Malchut is also called ‘אני’ “A’ni”, “me/self”, which is the same letters as ‘Ayin’
As we already learnt, the leaders of the Tribes failed the test and lost the opportunity to correct their previous sin.
Lesson:
Ayin and Ani are two opposites. If we control the self and make ‘nothing’ of it then we can correct ourselves. We can do that only if we seek and follow the Light.
To remove the ego, we need to study the Torah and Zohar and find out how small we are and yet important in the big picture and God’s plans for the Final Redemption.
