Daily Zohar # 2179 – Balak – Blood and Soul
Continued from previous DZ
Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yitzchak were eating while the child continued talking about Torah and reveal deep secrets. Then they said let’s make a blessing over the food. The child commended them for that saying that the Holy Name doesn’t give light for the blessing of the food unless there’s an invitation (זימון, pronounced ‘Zimun’) to bless.
“אֲבָרְכָה אֶת-יְהוָה בְּכָל-עֵת; תָּמִיד, תְּהִלָּתוֹ בְּפִי”
“I will bless YHVH at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.”
King David saw that there is a need for invitation and he said “I will bless…”. During eating the Shechina stands over the table and at the same time the negative side also stands there because the food is a matter of this world.
When a person makes invitation to make the blessing then the Shechina establishes a connection to Zeir Anpin, to allow the blessing from above to flows down. The other side can not take any control. When there’s no invitation, the other side is happy and takes his share.
The process of eating is about transforming material substance to life energy in our body. The food energy absorbed in the blood that circulates and nourish our body. Without blood circulation, there’s no life because the basic soul level of Nefesh resides in the blood and stays in the body as long as the blood circulates.
The food nourishments directly affects the blood, which is the habitat of the soul. Another element that affects the blood is the lungs and we’ll study its impact on the soul in the next DZ study.
The blessing of the food helps us to remove the negative aspects from the food and bring pure light into our soul through the blood system.
The precept of blessing the food is in the Torah, Deuteronomy 8:10
“וְאָכַלְתָּ, וְשָׂבָעְתָּ–וּבֵרַכְתָּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, עַל-הָאָרֶץ הַטֹּבָה אֲשֶׁר נָתַן-לָךְ”
“”When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless YHVH your God for the good land which He has given you.”
Before you eat always remember to connect to the life force in the food. The ‘good land’ he gave us is Malchut and it is good when we bless the Light in everything we do otherwise we may have nutrition to the physical body but not for the soul, which is what important..
