“זֶה סֵפֶר, תּוֹלְדֹת אָדָם: בְּיוֹם, בְּרֹא אֱלֹהִים אָדָם, בִּדְמוּת אֱלֹהִים, עָשָׂה אֹתוֹ”
“This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.”
There’s an upper book and a lower book. The upper book is the aspect of ‘Tzadik’ ‘righteous’, which is Yessod. It is also called a ‘memorial book’ and ‘זה’, ‘this’.
The word ‘this’ is זה and the aspect of Yessod. ‘book’ is the aspect of Malchut because the book reveals what comes from Yessod, ‘this’. The word ‘this’ in Hebrew ‘זה’ has numerical value of 12 that is also the aspect of Zeir Anpin (male) that together with Malchut (female) create ‘generations’. These two ‘books’ are always in unification.
The Zohar also calls the ‘book’ a ‘memorial’ book because everything related to the unification of Zeir Anpin and Malchut is registered in it. The word ‘memorial’, ‘זכרון’ has the root ‘זכר’ that means male. All words with this root reveal a connection to the Light.
Our memory is not physical and it depends on our spiritual connection. Those with better spiritual connections enjoy a good and clear memory. Rabbi Ashlag was writing pages of Zohar commentary without erasing a word. One of his student asked him in wonder about it and Rabbi Ashlag replies that while writing he becomes a channels and the Light put the words in his mind. Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, ZT”L was know for having countless books memorized in his mind. He could recall text by page number from any book in his huge library of sacred books.
I am certain that those who follow the Daily Zohar on a regular basis have a better memory than they had before.
