Zohar Ki Tetze
#54
The last two letters of the word precept, Mitzvah מצוה, represent Zeir Anpin וV and Malchut Hה. When we act on a percept, we create a vessel using the ו (Zeir Anpin) and the ה (Malchut) and transform the first two letters, מצ (numerically 130 equal 10 times ‘Love’) to YH יה. This transformation from מצ to יה is revealed through the use of special Gematria called ATBASH אתבש. The Mitzvah reveals the complete YHVH name with the unification of light and vessel. We draw the light of Chokmah Y י and Binah H ה to the vessel we created in Malchut. The sequence of YHVH יהוה implies mercy.
When one tries to draw light without proper action/vessel, he reverses the process and forms the name as הוהי HVHY, which reveals an aspect of judgment.
These kinds of ‘shortcuts’ transforms everything to judgment and cause great difficulties in all aspects of one’s life.
The Final Redemption would be in a similar way. If we prepare a proper vessel, we will experience mercy, otherwise judgments. The Zohar recommends accepting the difficulties to purify our vessel and be able to receive the Light.
The sages taught us that “The rewards are according to the efforts we made”
Isaiah 66:7
“Before she travailed, she brought forth; Before her pain came, she gave birth to a boy.“
The difficulties we experience come to help us cleanse the vessel. With every good deed, precept, prayers, studies we build a pure and strong vessel.

Before the soul comes out to the world she experiences the pain of labor. After she’s out, mercy comes.
Jeremiah 31:8
“With weeping, they shall come, and with pleas, for mercy, I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.”
Jeremiah 30:7
“’Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s distress, But he will be saved from it.”
Genesis 8:9
“but the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, so she returned to him into the ark, for the water was on the surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the ark to himself.”
The dove is the aspect of the soul that wanders in this world through sufferings and then return to her roots when earning Teshuva, repentance.
Rabbi Ashlag adds here that we learn from that Zohar that we need go through judgment, wars, pain and sufferings before we are rewarded with mercy and Redemption. As we studies previously, “The rewards are according to the efforts we made”
The hardship and pain before the Redemption is important for us because it will draw the mercy that we need.
