Zohar Emor
#70
The seven days of Sukkot represent the seven sefirot of Zeir Anpin and Malchut. They are going up, and the light of Chokmah comes down with the sacrifices of the 70 bulls that provide nourishment for the 70 nations. They draw the light from a higher level down, and so they fall down. It’s the aspect of Obadiah 1:4
“Though you build high like the eagle, Though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down,” declares YHVH.”
The Israelites ‘climb’ from the lower levels up. They start growing on the level of Malchut, which is the ‘dust of the earth’ as we read in Genesis 28:14
“Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and the east and the north and the south; and in you and in your descendants, shall all the families of the earth be blessed.”
They can go higher in the levels of heavens and draw blessings as we read in Genesis 26:4
“I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands, and by your descendants, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;”
When the Israelites go up and hold fast to YHVH, they draw Life Force that comes from the YHVH name.
Deuteronomy 4:4
“But you who held fast to YHVH your God are alive today, every one of you.”

Leviticus 22:28
“But, whether it is an ox or a sheep, you shall not kill both it and its young in one day.”
The Torah forbids the slaughtering an ox or sheep and their young on the same day. The young usually follows the mother and the relationship is clear, but there are always doubts about who is the father. This Torah law established to avoid removing the ‘tree’ and the ‘branch’ on the same day/time.
Lesson;
The connection of the Israelites to YHVH is vital for the entire world. We are in exile, far from the Holy Temple, spread among the nations of the world so we can draw light to nourish the locals. Sacrifices could be made ONLY in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem by the priests. Since we don’t have the Temple, we use our prayers and all other spiritual tools to reveal light to affect our environment and the whole world.
Wherever we find Jewish communities and centers around the world, we see progress. Regions and countries with no populations of the children of Israel, we see darkness, poorness, and chaos. We may not be able to sacrifice bulls, but we can study and pray every day to shine light in the world around us.
