Zohar Behaalotcha

#95
Numbers 9:15
“And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.”

Psalms 112:9
“He has distributed freely; He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor.”

Rabbi Chiya asks what is the meaning of ‘פִּזַּר’ ‘distributed freely’ and explains that the meaning is literal. We also read in Proverbs 11:24
“There is one who scatters, yet increases more, And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.”

We can say that everyone who distributes to the poor is worthy of blessings. “yet increases more” means that one who shares has increased wealth and life.

#96
He continued to explain that “increases more” is the life force that is drawn to Malchut, which is a place of death from the upper levels.
Rabbi Chiya and Rabbi Yehuda say that these verses testify that whoever gives Tzedakah to the poor, the Tree of Life that is Zeir Anpin, is awakened to increase life to the tree of death, which is Malchut. Then the life from above is found in Malchut. A person that caused that change by giving Tzedakah, when in need, the Tree of Life provides for the Tree of death to protect him. This is the aspect of “Yet increases more.”

#97
Psalms 111:3
“Splendid and majestic is His work, And His righteousness endures forever.”
The act of Tzedakah gives the person sustenance and life. As he gives life to the needy, so he is given life. The two trees of Zeir Anpin and Malchut stand by him to save him and increase life for him.

Lesson;
The Zohar quotes the first verse about the first day of the Holy Tabernacle, and then the discourse is about the benefits of giving Tzedakah. This tells us that there is a connection between Tzedakah and the source of light and Life.
Tzedakah is a high level of connection to Yessod. The giver of Tzedakah becomes an aspect of Yessod that provides sustenance and life to this world.
