Zohar Balak
Continued from previous DZ
#370
He continues to explain, “YHVH kills,” and says that YHVH kills the body that is in the hands of the Sitra Achra. When the extension of the sitra achra in the body is exposed to the Light of the Holy One, Blessed be He, it cannot exist even for one moment, and it dies. After its death, the Light drawn from the holy side, brings life to the soul.
The Holy One, Blessed be He, does everything at one time as it is written, “YHVH kills and makes alive.” He kills the body and revives the soul at the same time.
“He brings down to the grave and brings up” means that he brings down the soul to the lower level in Gehennam to purify it by immersing it in the fire of Sheol and immediately raises it and places it in the Garden of Eden.

Lesson;
Our body is formed from the materials of this world that is the domain of the other side. Because of that, the body is under their control. The soul comes from the pure side that is beyond matter. The desires of the body corrupt the soul that comes from the pure side. When a person dies, the angel of death separates the body from the soul ascends up to the upper court, and begins the process of cleansing. Without the soul, the body goes back to its source, which is the material world, and breaks down to basic elements of nature.
The soul ascends with ‘attachments’ that come from desires for the self that are ‘foreign’ and not accepted in the pure side. When going through the fire, the soul gets cleansed from these ‘attachments’ and can move higher.
Even great Tzadikim pass by the gates of Gehennam to feel the fire and remove any old and forgotten attachments. The Zohar describes this purification process as a Mikveh of fire.
The soul was given to the parents from YHVH, and when the time comes, he takes part back and cleanses it before placing it in the Garden of Eden.
Some souls need a longer cleansing process.
