Zohar Balak

#377
From Zelophehad’s daughters, we learn that he who is afraid of the judgment will bring other judges and gather more people to hear the judgment, so the judge will be afraid to make an inappropriate judgment. If he does not pass correct judgment, the people will reject him judging. They did not know that Moses was humble more than any person on the face of the earth and would not pass incorrect decisions.

#378
Since Moshe saw that the whole assembly of great men of Israel, all the heads, and all the leaders of the nation, were coming close to me, he immediately withdrew himself from judging the case. As it is written;
Numbers 27:5
“וַיַּקְרֵב מֹשֶׁה אֶת מִשְׁפָּטָן לִפְנֵי יְהוָה.”
“So Moses brought their case before YHVH.”
Because of his meekness, Moses brought their case before Hashem. Other judges do not do so, even if there is a large assembly over them. These judges are called brazen-faced. They do not have the humility of Moses at all. Blessed is the lot of Moses. Rabbi Elazar and the friends Rejoiced.

Lesson;
Making a court case known in public would bring greater attention to the case, and the judge would be careful and avoid making incorrect rulings. Politicians that make laws and regulations to benefit special interests groups should be known to the public so the people won’t vote for them. If a politician knows that every one of his actions is scrutinized by the public, he will avoid corruption.
