Daily Zohar # 4837 – Acharei Mot – When the world becomes imbalanced
Daily Zohar 4837

#316
At that time, when the left-side levels (i.e., aspects of judgment) are split open by virtue of the worm, the voice that emanates from those sword-girded warriors—that is, from the sixty mighty ones—splits eighteen great mountains. These mountains represent the sefirot, Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, and Yessod (חג״ת נה״י), each of which is made up of three lines (right, left, and center). (So, 6 sefirot × 3 lines = 18 spiritual “mountains.”) At that moment, the upper three sefirot of Chochmah depart from them, and there is no one who inclines their ear—meaning no one restrains or prevents the flow of these upper lights of Chochmah. As a result, the entire world becomes blind-eyed and hard-hearted. No one considers or understands that this structure—based on the upper three sefirot of the left side—is destined to collapse, especially when people perform unworthy deeds and turn away from the proper path. Then, the right side—which is the illumination of Chassadim—is removed, and the left side (judgment) rules alone, without right-side balance. Then, sexual immorality arises—that is, the unmitigated judgments that are revealed in Binah and Malchut, which are referred to as “uncovered nakedness” (ערוה). Woe to the wicked, who cause this in the world, because blessings from above cannot flow until these wicked ones are removed from below. As it is written:
And the wicked shall be no more—Bless Hashem, O my soul, hallelujah” (Psalms 104:35).
Notes:
Spiritual collapse occurs when the world becomes imbalanced, especially when judgment (left) rules without mercy (right). This is caused not just by metaphysical shifts but by human sin, especially moral corruption and straying from righteous deeds. The “worm” represents a subtle corrective force that exposes this imbalance. Ultimate healing and blessing can only return when the wicked are removed and the balance between Chessed and Gevurah is restored.

Rabbi Chiya opened (his discourse): “כְּתַפּוּחַ בַּעֲצֵי הַיַּעַר כֵּן דּוֹדִי בֵּין הַבָּנִים” “Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons…” (Songs 2:3). This verse was already explained by the friends. But how beloved is The Congregation of Israel before the Holy One, Blessed be He, that she praises Him with this verse? Here we must reflect: Why does she praise Him with the image of an apple tree and not with some other object—one that might possess color, fragrance, or taste?
