Daily Zohar # 5203 – Vayikra – Make his sin known
Daily Zohar 5203

#401
Rabbi Yehuda opened and said, “אוֹ הוֹדַע אֵלָיו חַטָּאתוֹ” “or his sin is made known to him” (Leviticus 4:23). He asks, “made known to him,” from whose side, who made it known to him, it should have said “or he knew his sin,” and what is “made known to him.” And he answers, Rather, the Holy One, blessed be He, commanded the Congregation of Israel that she should make known to the person the sin that he sinned, and with what does she make it known to him, that is, with her judgments. As it is written, “יְגַלּוּ שָׁמַיִם עֲוֹנוֹ וְאֶרֶץ מִתְקוֹמְמָה לוֹ” “The heavens will reveal his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him” (Job 20:27). “Made known to him,” its meaning is like one who commands another to make it known to him. For “make known” is a term of command, that is, He commands Malchut to make it known to him.
Notes:
Rabbi Yehuda explains that when a person does not notice his own sin, the Holy One, blessed be He, commands Malchut (Congregation of Israel) to reveal it through judgments. “Made known” carries the sense of a divine command.
#402
As we have learned, at the time that a person sins before the Holy One, blessed be He, and does not pay attention to his sin to return in repentance before the Holy One, blessed be He, and throws it behind his shoulder, his very soul rises and testifies before the Holy One, blessed be He. Then the King commands the Congregation of Israel and says, “אוֹ הוֹדַע אֵלָיו חַטָּאתוֹ אֲשֶׁר חָטָא” “or his sin is made known to him, which he has sinned” (Leviticus 4:23), that is, extend to him judgments and make known to him his sin. As it is written, “הוֹדַע אֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַם אֶת תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶיהָ” “Make known to Jerusalem her abominations” (Ezekiel 16:2). For “make known” is a term of command.
Notes:
When a person ignores his sin and fails to repent, his own soul testifies above. The Holy One, blessed be He, then commands Malchut to reveal the sin through judgments, using the commanding language of “make known,” as in the verse to Jerusalem.
