The angel that is appointed to the birds that are souls from the level of Nefesh is called Sandalfon he is at the edge of that level and protects from the “Externals” like a sandal protects the foot.
When the bird is sent away from its nest, which is as we explained before, the Shechinah is distant from her children, Sandalfon is creating mercy by asking the Holy One Bless be He to bring mercy on the children by quoting the scriptures that says “..good to all and his compassion on all he has made” (Psalms 145:9) and why the decree on this bird to be sent away from its nest.
And the angel Metatron advocating for the souls from the level of Ruach. On Shabbat and holidays the souls receives the light from the ten Sefirot of Atzilut and when the Israelites doing the connection of the “Bird’s Nest”, each angel advocates for the souls under his wings.

There is different and higher light appear in Shabbat and Holidays to separate form the regular days because of the process to create the cause and effect system like crime and punishment.

The Holy One Bless be He is taking care of the higher souls from the level of Neshama and when the Shechina is in exile and her nest, which is the Holy Temple in Jerusalem is destroyed and no one to ask mercy for them, The Holy One,. Bless be He, is bringing mercy and compassion on his children and the Shechina in exile.
