When we go into a sleep state, the soul ascends through different levels. Each level has appointed police that acceptS or rejectS the souls that wish to go through. If they have the merit, they are allowed to pass and if not, they roam the lower levels. They fall under the control of many spirits that feed them lies and little truth about their future.
The souls of the righteous can ascend to higher levels, up to a place that is called ‘the mountain of YHVH’. Their souls come in front of the Holy One Blessed be He. The Zohar explains that it is like being in the Holy of Holies in the Holy Temple on the Temple mount in Jerusalem.
When we sleep, the soul ascends and receives energy of life. Even if a person has the best rest, best healthy food and drink he can not survive without a good sleep. When the soul’s life energy is drained, the heart or other main body function stops so the soul could leave the body.
There are many negative effects of lack of sleep and I recommend to each one of you to make a research on the Internet.
To achieve good sleep we need a good preparation, even if we have just short time to sleep. We should follow few important steps to enhance the quality of our sleep and gain the most of it.
- We should be physically clean to make sure no impure energy attached to us.
- Relax the body lying in bed with breathing techniques and muscle relaxation from head to toe. The soul level of Nefesh is in the blood and we should regulate the circulation so the soul can leave in a peaceful state.
- Spiritual cleansing is needed by confessing to all that we did wrong during the day and make plans to correct them.
There’s a special prayer on the bed before sleep but if you want the basics then
- Scan few Zohar paragraphs (See note below on how to get a link to the UnityZohar on your smartphone)
- Recite the Ana B’Koach and the Shema Israel. These two prayers should be known by heart so it can be done in bed in a dark room. They have the power to break any resistance on lower levels and let our souls ascend higher.
- The room you sleep in should be as dark as possible. Outside light can disturb the soul even if the eyelids are closed. If you are afraid of the dark, stop the feeling of fear and turn off the light anyway. A good sleep will help you overcome such fears.
When following these basics, the soul can leave the relaxed body without stress and achieve higher levels. Even if you ‘lose’ 15 minutes of sleep for this preparation, the outcome will be a much better sleep with strong energy of life, good health and dreams that have more truth than lies.
