“Now YHVH had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
“And he said: “I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.”

Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights. “Out of the belly of Sheol, I cried” The belly of the fish is the aspect of Sheol, that is where the souls go after death.
In the first three days, the intestines of a person explode out of his belly.

Malachi 2:3
“Behold, I will rebuke your descendants And spread refuse on your faces, The refuse of your solemn feasts; And one will take you away with it.”
The food that was enjoyed like holiday feasts but without sharing with the poor, explodes on the face of the person after death.

#91
After three days, the person is judged for his eyes on all the things he shouldn’t have looked and desired. He is judged for his hands that are engaged with making forbidden things. He is judged for his feet that walked toward making sins. This process of judging the soul and body continues for thirty days. The soul stays on the lower level, like a woman during her impure state. Then the soul ascends, and the body breaks down and rot in the ground. This state is until the Holy One Blessed be He resurrects the dead.

Lesson;
According to the Gaon of Vilna, the feeling after the soul leaves the body is like losing the mind. The person feels deep regret that we can’t even imagine in this world. It is so painful because the soul understands that there is no way to go back and make corrections.
If a person had a pure connection to the Torah and YHVH, his soul still sees the sins she didn’t correct and has great regret but on a lower level. The key to having an easier process at the time of death is to follow the righteous path, break the ego, never harm another person, and always ask forgiveness for whatever we did wrong.
If you don’t have a strong attachment to this world, then the process is easy.
Righteous people are welcomed by the Shechina and with happy family members that passed away. Others see Light and family members with faces that can tell about the pain the soul may experience in the process of the first 12 months.
