Zohar Shelach Lecha
#117
The words ‘תָּם’ (Pronounced ‘Tam’) and ‘תָמִים’ (Pronounced ‘Tamim’) have similar and complex meanings. These words describe a state of a person who is innocent, naive, blameless, whole-hearted (no negative thoughts), pure, one with strong faith, and sometimes it can mean gullible (because a naive person has no negative thoughts). Also means complete, flawless, without blemish, final state.
The Torah asks us to be תָּמִים with YHVH our God.
Deuteronomy 18:13 “תָּמִים תִּהְיֶה עִם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ” “You shall be blameless (תָּמִים) before YHVH your God.”
Before God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, he asked him to be תָּמִים with him.
Genesis 17:1 “הִתְהַלֵּךְ לְפָנַי וֶהְיֵה תָמִים” “walk before Me and be blameless (תָּמִים).”
Jacob was described as תָּם.
Genesis 25:27 “וְיַעֲקֹב אִישׁ תָּם יֹשֵׁב אֹהָלִים” “but Jacob was a peaceful man (תָּם), living in tents”
Rabbi Ilai asks what is the difference between ‘תָּמִים’ and ‘תָּם’ and why Jacob was called ‘תָּם’? And continue to explain that Jacob was pure without any kind of negativity because his circumcision process was complete.

The penis is the aspect of Yessod that represents the channel of Light to the world. The foreskin covers the opening of Yessod and allows the Klipa to drain the light from Yessod. To remove the Klipa we do the circumcision. After the removal of the foreskin, another process that is called ‘פריעה’ (Heb. P’riah) is made to remove another Klipa. It’s done by tearing the skin that is revealed in the first step and folding it to the sides of the penis.
The process of circumcision removes four types of Klipot and because Jacob had a perfect circumcision process, he was called ‘תם’, pure/complete.

Genesis 30:22
“וַיִּזְכֹּר אֱלֹהִים אֶת רָחֵל וַיִּשְׁמַע אֵלֶיהָ אֱלֹהִים וַיִּפְתַּח אֶת רַחְמָהּ.”
“Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.”

Genesis 21:1
“וַיהוָה פָּקַד אֶת שָׂרָה כַּאֲשֶׁר אָמָר וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוָה לְשָׂרָה כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּר.”
“And YHVH visited Sarah as He had said, and YHVH did for Sarah as He had spoken.”

GOD ‘remembered’ Rachel and ‘visited’ Sarah. ‘Remember’ is the aspect of male, ‘זכר’ and Yessod that was in perfect state in Jacob. He brought Joseph to the world that became the perfect channel for Yessod.
Deuteronomy 33:17
“בְּכוֹר שׁוֹרוֹ הָדָר לוֹ וְקַרְנֵי רְאֵם קַרְנָיו בָּהֶם עַמִּים יְנַגַּח יַחְדָּו אַפְסֵי אָרֶץ וְהֵם רִבְבוֹת אֶפְרַיִם וְהֵם אַלְפֵי מְנַשֶּׁה.”
“His glory is like a firstborn bull And his horns like the horns of the wild ox; Together with them, He shall push the peoples To the ends of the earth; They are the ten thousands of Ephraim, And they are the thousands of Manasseh.””
This was the blessings of Jacob to Joseph. It mentions the ‘firstborn bull’ that is the aspect of the Right of the Left. It gives Joseph control over the ‘bull’ of the Left that is all negative.

Lesson;
The process of circumcision is made as the first Tikkun a child experiences in his life. It connects him to the Tree of Life and gives him a greater ability to overcome the hardship of the Tikkun.
The sin with the Snake caused a disconnection from the Tree of Life and connected Adam and Eve to a physical body. The foreskin is a thick skin that covers the ‘crown’ of the penis, which is the aspect of Yessod, the Sefira, and the channel of Light to Malchut.

If you are not circumcised and you feel that your soul brings you closer to the Light, you have to act quickly before the other side pulls you away. You may or may not go through full conversion later but if you want to feel the light on higher levels then act and do the circumcision as soon as you can. Abraham performed it on himself but you should ask a local Rabbi or check online on this procedure. It will increase the Light that you can add to your vessel.
