Zohar Balak

#217
Rabbi Shimon praises Rabbi Elazar for his words and confirms that the birds are references to souls. He asks about the meaning of “Even the sparrow has found a home” and Rabbi Elazar answers that he learned that the sparrow bird is a Holy soul. The word ‘bird’, ‘sparrow’, in Hebrew ‘דרור’, also means ‘freedom’. It has the light of Binah that is freedom. This sparrow/holy soul ascends higher to a concealed and hidden place as the verse says about it; “Nor has the eye seen any God besides You”.

#218
Rabbi Shimon continues praising his son for the wise answer and says that it is related to the souls in the lower Garden of Eden. “Even the sparrow has found a home” relates to holy souls that are called ‘birds’ because they look like birds when they are free to go in and out. “Found a home” to tell us that each soul has its own dwelling place.

#219
The holy souls that have the freedom to move, meaning the souls from Binah are closer to the Holy One Blessed be He. He reveals to them the ‘Bird’s Nest’, which is the place where the crowns of Mashiach will come in the future.
Three times a year the Holy One Blessed be He amuses these Tzadikim and shows them a hidden palace that they never knew or recognized before.

Lesson;
There are three levels of the soul that one can achieve in this world.
The level of Nefesh is the source of life that everyone was born with. If a person purifies his soul level of Nefesh he has a place outside the gates of the lower Garden of Eden.
The levels of Ruach and Neshama are achieved by pure and righteousness and they go into the levels from the lower to the upper Garden of Eden.
