The beauty of the beard is found in nine connections also called tikunim, and when the important oil from the thirteen streams of light from the beard of Atika Kadisha, illuminates in the beard of Zeir Anpin, they make 22 higher connections that bless the levels above and below.
Genesis 48:20
“וַיְבָרֲכֵם בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא לֵאמוֹר בְּךָ יְבָרֵךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר יְשִׂמְךָ אֱלֹהִים כְּאֶפְרַיִם וְכִמְנַשֶּׁה וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת אֶפְרַיִם לִפְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה.”
“So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you (בְּךָ) Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!’ ” And thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.”
This verse from the blessing that Jacob/Israel gave the children of Joseph. He used the word ‘בך’ ‘By you’ that has the numerical value of 22 to connect to the 22 lights coming from Atika Kadisha.

The nine connections of the beard of Zeir Anpin are actually six. The first connection is a strong spark that came out from under the hair of the head, under the locks that above the ears. It comes down the front of the ear to the line of the mouth. This light doesn’t have a root in Atikah Kadisha but from Mazala that is the source for the Light of Chokmah. This light joins with Mother to be part of the ‘pure air’ ‘אוירא דכיא’ that represents the connection of the supernal Father and Mother. After that the spark of Light from the hair of the head unites with the ‘pure air’ and completes the first tikun/connection of the beard.
