Tikkun 21 – 172

Joshua 1:8
“לֹא-יָמוּשׁ סֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה הַזֶּה מִפִּיךָ, וְהָגִיתָ בּוֹ יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה, לְמַעַן תִּשְׁמֹר לַעֲשׂוֹת, כְּכָל-הַכָּתוּב בּוֹ: כִּי-אָז תַּצְלִיחַ אֶת-דְּרָכֶךָ, וְאָז תַּשְׂכִּיל.”
“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, and you shall meditate therein DAY AND NIGHT that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shall make your ways prosperous, and then you shall have good success.”

After Moses passed away, Joshua was placed in his place. The above verse is God’s suggestion to him to keep his certainty and connect to the Torah day and night to have success (תַּצְלִיחַ) and elevation (תַּשְׂכִּיל).

The Zohar asks “Is it possible that God would ask us to study the whole day and night?” and answer is: If a person connects to the Shema prayer morning and evening, he fulfills the precept and collects that light.

All precepts come from the Tree of Life, some from the fruit, which is the level of Chokmah and some, from the branches, which is Binah. Some from the roots, which is Malchut and some from the tree itself and it is the level of Zeir Anpin.

The Torah is called Tree of Life and those that ‘eat’ from it connect to life force beyond the level of Malchut.

Connecting and ‘eating’ from the bad side of the Tree of Knowledge good and bad bring death, which are actions that lead to chaos and suffering.

Genesis 2:17
“וּמֵעֵץ, הַדַּעַת טוֹב וָרָע–לֹא תֹאכַל, מִמֶּנּוּ: כִּי, בְּיוֹם אֲכָלְךָ מִמֶּנּוּ–מוֹת תָּמוּת”
“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.”

What are the major benefits of connecting to the Torah’s spiritual laws?
When we follow the laws of the Torah with understanding and not in a blind robotic way, we have spiritual elevation.
Understanding the spiritual aspects of the precepts is important to achieve elevation.

At this elevated state the soul can disconnect from the chaos around it. The physical matter doesn’t matter anymore. The soul is free to feel and connect with others on different levels and has greater ability to see beyond matter.

The body becomes a tool and a servant of the soul to share and help others on all levels.

To find out how hard my soul is ‘glued’ to my body, I do the following.

I sit on a chair or a sofa, position my elbows on the side of my body and place my hands on my lap. Now I try to see them as “not mine”. I may place another object next to my hand so I will have another point of reference. Then I should see my hands as a different object or as something that belongs to someone else.

It is easier to do this excersize after a Zohar scanning and study. The ultimate goal is to be able to look at the mirror and see the body as separate from the soul.
