Daily Zohar 4410

At that time, he (Benjamin) had no sons yet. And if you say, isn’t the Torah clear, “and the sons of Benjamin were Bela and Bechor” when they came to Egypt. Yes, by then, Benjamin already had children because as long as Jacob mourned for Yosef, he did not connect to his wife or bring children. Benjamin had in his mind that his brother Joseph was the connection to Yessod for his father because Jacob is Zeir Anpin, which includes Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, and Yessod, and Joseph is the Yessod of Jacob, because Yessod is the end of the body, the reproductive organ. Since Joseph’s place is unknown, Benjamin took on himself to take his brother’s place and keep the purity of the channel of Yessod.
And if you say, at the time when Joseph was lost, Joseph was not yet considered a Tzadik because one cannot merit the level of Tzadik unless they are tested, and at that time, Joseph had not yet faced any test. The answer is that everyone knew this from Jacob, who knew that the level of Yessod would be inherited by Joseph, meaning he learned through the Holy Spirit that he would be tested in the incident with Potiphar’s wife and would merit the level of Tzadik (Yessod). That is why Jacob waited so long in Laban’s house and did not return to his own home until the body was completed, which is Yessod, Joseph. Therefore, it is written;
“And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own place and to my country.”
After Joseph has been born, the body, which is Tiferet, has been completed, and since the body is constructed, Jacob knew that he should go back to his land.
Jacob knew through the Holy Spirit that Joseph is Yessod, and everyone knew it from him. Therefore, Benjamin knew, and he followed his brother’s way; that is, he became the Tzadik (Yessod) for his father in place of Joseph after he was lost.
