Daily Zohar # 4523 – Vayikra – You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife
Daily Zohar 4523

#188
It is written, “לֹא תַעֲנֶה בְרֵעֲךָ עֵד שָׁקֶר” ‘You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.’ (Exodus 20:12) And it is written in the account of Creation, “וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם בְּצַלְמֵנוּ ” ‘And God said, Let us make man in our image.’ (Genesis 1:26) That is, one who is in the king’s image shall not testify falsely against him. And one who bears false witness against his fellow is as if he bears false witness above.
#189
It is written, “לֹא תַחְמֹד אֵשֶׁת רֵעֶךָ” ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.’ (Exodus 20:13) And it is written in the account of Creation, “לֹא טוֹב הֱיוֹת הָאָדָם לְבַדּוֹ” ‘It is not good that the man should be alone,’ (Genesis 2:18) Hence, your spouse is set before you, as Eve was given to him as his spouse. Therefore, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.”
#190
And this is what we said about the ten utterances of Creation and the ten utterances at the giving of the Torah. And this is as it is written, “עֲשָׂרָה עֲשָׂרָה הַכַּף בְּשֶׁקֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ” ‘Ten Ten by the holy shekel,’ (Numbers 7:86) these two tens, were weighed as one in the same balance. And for this reason, the world stands, and peace is found within it. Therefore, ‘And if he offers a sacrifice of peace offerings,’ it is to sustain the world in peace. It atones for the positive commandments (Do) and the negative commandments (Shall not do…) to bring peace to all.
