Daily Zohar # 4888 – Acharei Mot – The egg of truth
Daily Zohar 4888

#397
We learned from the verse: “וְאֶל אִשָּׁה בְּנִדַּת טֻמְאָתָהּ לֹא תִקְרַב לְגַלּוֹת עֶרְוָתָהּ” “And to a woman in the impurity of her separation you shall not approach to uncover her nakedness” (Leviticus 18:19). Rabbi Yehudah taught: In the generation of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, the root of his soul dwelled among them. All were righteous, all were pious, all were God-fearing — and the Shechinah dwelled among them. This was not the case in other generations. Therefore, these matters (referring to the secrets of the Torah) were explained and not concealed in his generation. But in different generations, this is not so — for the words of the highest secrets cannot be revealed, and even those who know them are afraid to reveal them. Because when Rashbi would explain the secret meaning of this verse (about approaching a woman in her impurity), all the friends’ eyes would flow with tears, and all that he said was revealed clearly before their eyes, as it is written: “פֶּה אֶל פֶּה אֲדַבֶּר בּוֹ וּמַרְאֶה וְלֹא בְחִידֹת” “Mouth to mouth I speak with him, in vision and not in riddles” (Numbers 12:8).

One day, Rabbi Yisa asked: He said, “The egg of truth, which comes from a bird that dwells in fire, is cracked into four directions. Two rises from it, one is lowered, and one rests in the crouching place of the Great Sea.”
Rabbi Abba responded: “You have rendered the holy into the mundane before Rabbi Shimon! For it is written: ‘With him, I speak mouth to mouth'” (Numbers 12:8). Rabbi Shimon said to him: “Before that egg is cracked — you will depart from the world.” And so it was — as recorded at the end of the Idra Rabba.
Explanation (Hasulam): The left line, when it is without the right, is considered harsh judgments, and is called “a bird that dwells in fire.” And Malchut is primarily built from the left line. Malchut is called the “Egg of truth,” for chicks are the aspect of Zeir Anpin, and eggs are the aspect of Malchut, as it is known. And this is what is meant by “a true egg that comes from a bird that dwells in fire” — that is, Malchut that comes forth and is drawn from the left line, which dwells in the fire of judgments. The advice to nullify these judgments is through the middle line, which elevates the screen (מסך, Masach) of Chirik, returning Malchut to Binah. Then, the levels are split into two halves, and a partition (פרסא, Parsa) is established between the upper three and the lower six. In all aspects of the upper three, the Chochmah is concealed and does not shine, except in the lower six. Because of this, also Z” A, which is in the category of the upper three, is in a state of “covered Chassadim,” and Malchut, which is in the category of the lower six, is in the illumination of the lower six of Chochmah.
Notes:
Rabbi Shimon tells Rabbi Yisa that he will leave this world before the “egg cracks,” meaning that before he is ready to grasp these deep secrets, his soul will return Above. And indeed, the Idra Rabba concludes that Rabbi Yisa passed away before this revelation occurred.
