[וּבְכֹחַ זֶה] בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם [סְתַם נְקֻדָּה נִסְתֶּרֶת שֶׁשּׁוֹפְעִים מֵימֶיהָ וְיוֹצְאִים הַחוּצָה] [נ”א אַחַר שֶׁיּוֹצְאִים בָּזֶה] [ונ”א נָהָר שֶׁיּוֹצֵא בְּהֵ”א עֶלְיוֹנָה] [אוֹר שֶׁשּׁוֹפֵעַ וְיוֹצֵא בָּזֶה] וּמוֹצִיא קוֹל מִתּוֹכוֹ, וְזֶה נִקְרָא קוֹל הַשּׁוֹפָר. וְהַיְנוּ בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם [וְהוּא] שֶׁהוּא קוֹל הַשּׁוֹפָר [נ”א וְהוּא הַשּׁוֹפָר]. וְשָׁמַיִם שׁוֹלְטִים בְּחַיֵּי הַמֶּלֶךְ הָעֶלְיוֹן עַל הָאָרֶץ. וְסִימָן לַדָּבָר – בֶּן יִשַׁי חַ”י עַל הָאֲדָמָה. שֶׁהַחַיִּים תְּלוּיִים בְּבֶן יִשַׁי [וּבְוָא”ו מַשְׁפִּיעִים לוֹ]. וּבָהֶם שׁוֹלֵט בַּכֹּל, וְהָאָרֶץ נִזּוֹנֵית מִמֶּנּוּ. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ. וָא”ו הִתּוֹסְפָה לִשְׁלֹט בַּמְּזוֹנוֹת עַל הָאָרֶץ.
305. אֵ”ת לְמַעְלָה, וְהוּא כֹּחַ שֶׁל כְּלַל עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁתַּיִם אוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁהוֹצִיא אֵ”ת א’ ת’ אֱלֹהִים זֶה, וְנָתַן לַשָּׁמַיִם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שיר ג) בָּעֲטָרָה שֶׁעִטְּרָה לּוֹ אִמּוֹ בְּיוֹם חֲתֻנָּתוֹ. וְהַיְנוּ אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם – לְהַכְלִיל זֶה בָּזֶה וּלְחַבֵּר אוֹתָם זֶה בָּזֶה לְהִתְקַיֵּם כְּאֶחָד בְּאוֹתָם חַיֵּי הַמֶּלֶךְ, מֶלֶךְ סְתָם, לְהָזִין מִמֶּנּוּ שָׁמַיִם. וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ – חִבּוּר שֶׁל זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה שֶׁנֶּחְקְקוּ בְּאוֹתִיּוֹת רְשׁוּמוֹת, וְחַיֵּי הַמֶּלֶךְ שֶׁנִּשְׁפְּעוּ מֵהַשָּׁמַיִם, שֶׁהַשָּׁמַיִם מַשְׁפִּיעִים לָהֶם לְקַיֵּם אֶת הָאָרֶץ וְכָל אוּכְלוּסֶיהָ.

‘בָּרָא אֱלֹקִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם’—’God created the heavens’ (Genesis 1:1) means that He brought forth from within Himself a voice (קול). This means that Elokim, which is Binah, emanated and brought forth the heavens, which is Zeir Anpin, called a voice (kol). He is called the voice of the shofar (קוֹל הַשּׁוֹפָר). Thus, ‘God created the heavens’ refers to Zeir Anpin, called the voice of the shofar. The heavens, which is Zeir Anpin, rule over the earth (ארץ) by the power of the Mochin, called the life of the supernal king (חַיֵּי הַמֶּלֶךְ). This means that the light of Chokhmah is called life (חַיִּים), and the supernal king is Binah, who emanated the heavens. Therefore, these Mochin are called the life of the supernal king. The sign for this is in the verse, ‘בֶּן־יִשַׁי חַי עַל־הָאֲדָמָה’—’ The son of Yishai lives on the earth’ (1 Samuel 20:31). For the illumination of Chokhmah, called life (חַיִּים), depends on the son of Yishai, meaning the Malchut of David, and through them, it rules over everything. The earth, which is Malchut, receives from the heavens, and this is what is meant by ‘וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ’—’ and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1). The Vav (ו) added to the word et (וְאֵת) in ‘and the earth’ is to rule and bestow sustenance upon the earth, meaning to the lower Nukva (Malchut). This means that this Vav of ‘and the earth’ is the secret of the male within the Nukva, and the bestowal of sustenance is received from this male. All this will be explained ahead.
Notes:
Elokim refers to Binah, the supernal mother (Imma), who emanates Zeir Anpin, called the “heavens” (shamayim) and the “voice” (kol), specifically the “voice of the shofar” (kol shofar). The shofar symbolizes Zeir Anpin’s role as the channel of supernal sound or influence, connecting Binah’s Mochin to the lower sefirot. This aligns with Zeir Anpin as the “supernal river” (Genesis 2:10, previous sections).
The Vav in “וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ” (“and the earth”) represents the masculine aspect (זכר, Zeir Anpin) within Malchut (Nukva). This Vav symbolizes the flow of sustenance (mezonot, spiritual nourishment) from Zeir Anpin to Malchut, enabling her to receive Mochin and Chessed. This reflects the zivug (union) between Zeir Anpin and Malchut, where the male bestows divine light to rectify the female (Song of Songs 2:6 section).

It is said et (אֵת) above, meaning ‘אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם’—’ the heavens’ (Genesis 1:1). This is the power of inclusion of the 22 letters alluded to in et, meaning from Alef to Tav, which Elokim, who is Binah, brought forth and gave to the heavens, which is Zeir Anpin. This means that et aludes to the Nukva (Malchut), for et is the secret of the inclusion of the 22 letters from Alef to Tav, and the letters are vessels that depend solely on the Nukva. For the male (זכר, Zeir Anpin) is the secret of the light, and the Nukva is the secret of the vessels. It says that ‘the heavens’ (אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, et ha-shamayim) refers to the Nukva within the body of Zeir Anpin, from his chest upward, which Binah emanated together with Zeir Anpin. This is what is meant by ‘and so forth’, for this Nukva is the secret of the crown that the mother (Imma, Binah) crowned him with. This is what is written, ‘the heavens’ (et ha-shamayim), which are the male (Zeir Anpin) and the Nukva, to include them within each other and to unite them in a zivug (union), so that they may be sustained together by these Mochin, called the life of the king (חַיֵּי הַמֶּלֶךְ). The simple king (מלך), which is the Nukva, will be nourished from Zeir Anpin, called the heavens.
The verse’ וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ’—’ and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1) indicates the union (חיבור) of the male (זכר) and the Nukva, inscribed with the inscribed letters. This means that the Nukva, alluded to in the verse ‘the heavens’ (et ha-shamayim), meaning from the chest upward, is only the aspect of the power of inclusion of the 22 letters and is not yet the aspect of actual letters, as it is above the chest. But the Nukva, alluded to in the verse ‘and the earth’, is the aspect of the 22 inscribed letters in actuality, being from the chest downward, meaning in actual manifestation. The life of the king, which is the Mochin of the illumination of Chokhmah, drawn from the heavens, which is Zeir Anpin, is such that the heavens draw them only to sustain the earth (Malchut) and all her multitudes. This means that Zeir Anpin does not draw these mochin for himself, as he is rectified with Mochin of Chessed from the pure air of Abba v’Imma (Chokhmah and Binah), but he pulls them only for the Nukva from the chest downward and all the souls drawn from her.

The word et (אֵת) in “the heavens” (et ha-shamayim) represents the 22 Hebrew letters (Alef to Tav), symbolizing the vessels (kelim) of Malchut (Nukva). These letters, emanating from Binah (Elokim), are bestowed upon Zeir Anpin (heavens), who includes Malchut within himself from the chest upward. The Nukva in this context is the “crown” (עטרה) that Binah (Imma) places on Zeir Anpin, signifying their partial unification in the upper sefirot (Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet). The letters are the vessels (כלים, kelim) for the supernal light, which Malchut embodies, while Zeir Anpin is the light (אור).
