Zohar Pinchas, Vol. 20 (English)/Vol 15 (Hebrew)
Continued from previous DZ
We studied that we need to send the Mother away and keep the ‘sons’. The Zohar brings another aspect of ‘send the mother’ and explains that the Mother, Binah is out of our reach but the ‘sons’ that are the Sefirot of Chessed through Hod, we can get to ourselves.
“אֵלֶּה מוֹעֲדֵי יְהוָה, מִקְרָאֵי קֹדֶשׁ, אֲשֶׁר-תִּקְרְאוּ אֹתָם, בְּמוֹעֲדָם”
“These are YHVH’s appointed times, the sacred readings that you are to proclaim at their appointed times”
The ‘readings’ and prayers that we do during the different spiritual events are called ‘sacred readings’. They are the aspect of (Deuteronomy 22:6) ‘and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs’. The Mother brings the ‘sons’ closer to her and with that she elevates Malchut to her. The prayers create ‘female waters’ (מ”ן, מים נוקבין) that draw light from Chokmah and Binah.
The sacred text is Holy because it makes connection to the upper levels. We study all the Torah through the Zohar to draw the light from every letter, word and verse. Even though the main theme of the study of the Zohar is always to draw down light to our lives, the different verses bring different aspects of Light. We should not lose even one letter because each one of them has a different ‘life’ of its own and a specific and perfect place in our soul.
When we ‘read’ the different parts of the prayers and Torah at their appointed times, we nourish our soul with everything it needs. This is like taking care of ‘vitamins deficiency’ in the soul. We may be able to survive by consuming all the calories we need from one food item but it doesn’t make us truly healthy. We need to study the entire Torah to have a complete and healthy soul.
The Torah gives us 613 (248 + 365) precepts that most of them can not be fulfilled practically in this world. When we study all of them we achieve complete and healthy souls. There is a great benefit in studying the Zohar in sequence because it fulfills us better. Keep your daily Zohar study in sequence and if you miss a day or few of them then go back and ‘catch up’ because it is important for your soul.
