I suggest reading DZ 1496 and DZ 1497 prior to this study (links above).
“אִישׁ אִמּוֹ וְאָבִיו תִּירָאוּ, וְאֶת-שַׁבְּתֹתַי תִּשְׁמֹרוּ: אֲנִי, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם”
“Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am YHVH your God.”
We read the word ‘revere’ in relation to YHVH sanctuary and in relation to mother and father.
The Zohar explains that when man and woman come together it is a holy unification. They are referred here as mother and father and not man and woman because mother and father together implies a ‘fruitful’ process. The fruit is energy of life that comes from the unification of Zeir Anpin and Malchut. On Shabbat we have the unification of the Light, Zeir Anpin and the Vessel, Malchut.
The Torah mentions the Shabbat in plural because on Shabbat Malchut, which is the seventh and the aspect of the lower Shabbat, is elevated with the unification with Zeir Anpin to receive ‘life’ from Binah, which is the upper Shabbat.
A husband and wife that want to draw greater light into their lives should prepare themselves for a unification on Friday night. With physical purity and pure consciousness they can draw life force from Binah that will benefit their lives.
Even if the ‘flame’ is not strong, a couple should take advantage of the opportunity because of the great benefits to them and their children.
Single man, single woman or if a woman is not in purity on Friday night should make a Zohar study. On Shabbat the Zohar study gets higher elevation and draw life energy.
