TU B’AV

Today is the fifteenth of Av.

The Ben Ish Chai said that the month is initials for א-ארור (cursed), and ב-ברוך (Blessed). The first half of the month is cursed because it’s under the control of the other side, and we experience death and the destruction of the Holy Temples. The second half that we start now is blessed.

On the 15th of Av (Full moon), Zeir Anpin and Malchut come together in complete unification, and the result is the creation of new life. On the 25th of Elul, which is 40 days from that day, the world was created. It begins the process that leads us to Rosh Hashanah. On the 15th of Av, we light a candle for all the Tzadikim. From this day until Rosh Hashanah, we make efforts to schedule more study time, give more Tzedakah, and not miss out on any positive action. It’s a period of time that is full of light that supports us in everything we do.<br>

Zohar Shelach Lecha
#306
The head of the Yeshiva said to Rabbi Shimon, Holy Light, I heard how honor upon honor and crown upon crown adorn the father of that man, whose soul testifies before the Holy king and his court that gathered to hear his new Torah revelations. Then the Holy One, Blessed be He, mentions the father, and many kiss his head. And many Tzadikim adorn him when they descend (back to their place in the Garden of Eden #293).
Blessed are all those who study the Torah and on the Shabbat study more than on other days. (The discourse of the head of the Yeshiva ends here)

#307
Numbers 15:20
“רֵאשִׁית עֲרִסֹתֵכֶם חַלָּה תָּרִימוּ תְרוּמָה כִּתְרוּמַת גֹּרֶן כֵּן תָּרִימוּ אֹתָהּ.”
“You shall offer up a Challah of the first of your ground meal as a heave offering; as a heave offering of the threshing floor, so shall you offer it up.”
The verse points to the mitzvah to set aside challah (a portion of the dough) for the Kohen. Challah חלה is the numerical value of 43, in Hebrew letters מ” ג. This shows that no dough required giving of challah to the Kohen unless it has a measure of 43 eggs and 1/5 of an egg. (egg volume is about 50 cc). And there is ⅕ of fifty, which is in Hebrew the letter ‘ן.’ Together with מג, we have מג” ן, which is the initials of מיכאל, גבריאל, נוריאל, Michael Gabriel Nuriel, which correspond to Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet of Zeir Anpin.
Challah is the aspect o the Shechina because where these angels מג” ן, there are the Patriarchs, who are Chessed, Gevurah, and Tiferet. And where we find the Patriarchs, we also see the Shechina. Because of the connection to the three lines through the patriarchs, Malchut receives from them. In Malchut, we have prayers.
Exodus 32:11
“וַיְחַל מֹשֶׁה אֶת פְּנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לָמָה יְהוָה יֶחֱרֶה אַפְּךָ בְּעַמֶּךָ אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בְּכֹחַ גָּדוֹל וּבְיָד חֲזָקָה.”
“Then Moses pleaded with YHVH his God, and said: “YHVH, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?”
Deuteronomy 3:24
“אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה אַתָּה הַחִלּוֹתָ לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת עַבְדְּךָ אֶת גָּדְלְךָ וְאֶת יָדְךָ הַחֲזָקָה אֲשֶׁר מִי אֵל בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה כְמַעֲשֶׂיךָ וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶךָ.”
“‘O YHVH GOD, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds?”
The words “ויחל” and “הַחִלּוֹתָ” in Moses’s prayers connect to “חלה” “Challah”. “הַחִלּוֹתָ” “have begun to show” relates to the merit of the patriarchs. It doesn’t apply to the wicked, who receive limited rewards during their life in this world.
