42. וּכְמוֹ שֶׁתַּאֲוַת הַחֹשֶׁךְ לְהִכָּלֵל בָּאוֹר, כָּךְ הַלַּיְלָה תַּאֲוָתוֹ לְהִכָּלֵל בַּיּוֹם. הַחֹשֶׁךְ גּוֹרֵע אוֹרוֹ, וְלָכֵן הוֹצִיא דַרְגָּה בְּחִסָּרוֹן וְלֹא בָּאוֹר. הַחֹשֶׁךְ לֹא מֵאִיר, אֶלָּא כְּשֶׁנִּכְלָל בְּאוֹר. לַיְלָה שֶׁיּוֹצֵא מִמֶּנּוּ לֹא מֵאִיר אֶלָּא כַּאֲשֶׁר נִכְלָל בַּיּוֹם. חֶסְרוֹן הַלַּיְלָה לֹא מִשְׁתַּלֵּם אֶלָּא בְּמוּסָף. מַה שֶּׁנּוֹסָף כָּאן – נִגְרָע כָּאן.
43. בְּמוּסָף הָיָה בּוֹ סוֹד שֶׁל הַנְּקֻדָּה הָעֶלְיוֹנָה וְסוֹד שֶׁל עַמּוּד הָאֶמְצָעִי בְּכָל הַצְּדָדִים, וְלָכֵן נוֹסְפוּ בוֹ שְׁתֵּי אוֹתִיּוֹת. בַּלַּיְלָה נִגְרָעִים מִמֶּנּוּ שְׁנֵי אֵלֶּה, וְאָז קָרָא כָּתוּב וַיִּקְרָא, וְגָרַע מִמֶּנּוּ וָי”ו, וְכָתוּב קָרָא לָיְלָה. כָּאן סוֹד שֶׁל שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁתַּיִם אוֹתִיּוֹת חֲקוּקוֹת שֶׁל כֶּתֶר עֶלְיוֹן.
The night is the master of the earth from the Left side, which is darkness. The ‘female’ is emanated from that darkness that has the desire to be part of the Right. This desire weakens the Gevurah that is the judgment side of the Left. Because of that and the lack of Chassadim, it cannot receive from the level of Chokmah of Arich Anpin.
Before the end of the night, the Left gets included with the RIght that takes the control, leaving the Night incomplete.
As the Left that is darkness desire to be part of the Light of the Right column, so is the ‘female’ that is night desire to be part of the day. This means that the Nukva, Malchut has the aspect of the night that desires the Light of Yessod that is called ‘Day’. Because the Nukva is incomplete, it needs two corrections; the first is to illuminate from the darkness, and the second is to complete its structure.
Darkness, Left column, can not illuminate except when it is included with the Light of the Right. The night that was constructed from the Left does not illuminate only when it is included in the day that is Yessod.
The flaw of the structure of night cannot be completed only in Musaf prayer that is the additional Light that Yessod receives from the Center column.
The Musaf that is Yessod of Zeir Anpin has the secret of the supernal point that is Arich Anpin and the secret of the Central column, Tiferet that brings balance to the two sides. For that reason, Yessod received two additional letters, ו (Vav) and י(Yod) from the saying (Genesis 1:5) “וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים לָאוֹר יוֹם” “And God called the light Day”. The Vav is for the Light of Chassadim that Yessod receives from the Center column, and the Yod implies the Light of Chokmah that Yessod receives from Arich Anpin.
During the night the two letters are subtracted from the word ‘וַיִּקְרָא’, and night is left with ‘קְרָא’. The two letters point to the two corrections of the Nukva. When they are added to Yessod, the Nukva receives the Light of Chassadim from the Vav and the Yod completes its structure. The Vav and the Yod give us a clue to the secret of the name of 72 letters that are engraved in the supernal Keter.
