Zohar Tzav

#186
Blessed are those who deal with the Torah and are on a higher level than everyone else. Those who study the Torah do not need to offer sacrifices because the Torah is better than all and is the bond of the faith, meaning the connection to Malchut. Therefore, it is written;
Proverbs 3:17
“דְּרָכֶיהָ דַרְכֵי נֹעַם וְכָל נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם.”
“Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.”
It is also written;
Psalm 119:165
“שָׁלוֹם רָב לְאֹהֲבֵי תוֹרָתֶךָ וְאֵין לָמוֹ מִכְשׁוֹל.”
“Peace be to those who love your teachings, and there is no obstacle for them.”

#187
While they were walking, they met a man who was walking toward them with three branches of myrtle in his hand. They approached him and asked him, why do you have this? He said, in order to please the lost. The ‘lost’ is the extra soul received on Shabbat that leaves the person after Shabbat.
Rabbi Elazar said, you said it well, but why do you need three, one myrtle branch would be enough. The man replied, one for Abraham, one for Isaac, and one for Jacob. They represent the three lines, Right is Chessed, Left is Gevurah, and Center is Tiferet. I tied them together and smelled them because it is written;
Songs 1:3
“לְרֵיחַ שְׁמָנֶיךָ טוֹבִים שֶׁמֶן תּוּרַק שְׁמֶךָ עַל כֵּן עֲלָמוֹת אֲהֵבוּךָ.”
“Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore, the virgins love you.”
And this smell sustains the Nefesh, the lower part of the soul; also, it maintains the faith, which is Malchut. It draws blessings from above and below.
Smell alludes to the illumination of Chokmah that is revealed in Malchut, extended from the three lines of Zeir Anpin, which is the secret of the three myrtles. Therefore, when smelling the myrtle, we should meditate to continue the light of Chokmah from the three lines to Malchut.
Rabbi Elazar said, blessed is the portion of Israel in this world and in the world to come.

Lesson;
After Shabbat, we make Havdala which separates us from Shabbat, and at the same time, we wish to keep the extra souls we received during Shabbat through our connections. For that reason, we make a blessing on some fragrance, preferably myrtle branches, but any pleasant fragrance is good for that. It is good to take three sniffs for the three parts of the soul, Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah.
The sense of smell was not part of the first sin and therefore does not require correction at the root level. It connects to the Light of Chokmah and so it can please and support the soul and body in many ways, like in aroma therapy.
When we eat different drinks, eat fruits or vegetables, one blessing is sufficient for the same category of food. When smelling different pleasing smells, we can make the blessing again on each new scent that we smell.
When Mashiach comes, he would know the purity of a person with a sense of smell. The Torah studies draw the scents of the Garden of Eden, so as we study more and avoid negativity, our spiritual scent has a great pleasing aroma. Mashiach doesn’t check for IDs or certificates of Torah education. The spiritual layers of Lights and good deeds surrounding the person tell the true story of the life and deeds of a person. Study Torah, do good, and avoid bad.
